Maryland Massage Board Requirements
According to the board, Maryland massage therapists need 24 CE hours of continuing education every 2 years (even numbered) for license renewal. Continuing education requirements are to include 1 CE hours of Diversity or Cultural Competency, 3 CE hours of Ethics, 3 CE hours of Communicable Diseases including HIV/AIDS, and 17 CE hours in massage related courses. The continuing education courses shall be offered by providers approved by the board, such as the NCBTMB. Licenses must be renewed every other year between August 20th to October 30th.
Renewal Process
Along with your Massage Therapy renewal application, the board requires a renewal fee of $276. While licensees are not required to provide proof of their Massage Therapy Continuing Education completion, you may be audited during the online renewal process or randomly by the board. For this reason, you should keep copies of certificates to provide to the board. You also must keep an up-to-date CPR certification.
