Michigan Massage Therapy Continuing Education

Michigan Massage Board Requirements

According to the board, massage therapists in Michigan are required to complete 18 Massage Therapy continuing education hours of board approved professional development hours, a minimum of 1 hour of continuing education in the area of pain and symptom management and 2 hours in professional ethics or boundaries are required. The continuing education courses shall be offered by providers approved by the board, such as the NCBTMB. Your initial Massage Therapy registration is only good until the next expiration date of your profession (anywhere from 4 months to 1 year). After your first renewal, your registration will be valid for 3 years. The board also requires a one-time training to identify victims of human trafficking. 

Renewal Process

You will receive renewal information 45-60 days prior to the expiration date of your registration and it will state the renewal fee required. Licensees are required to provide proof of their Massage Therapy Continuing Education completion.
